Sound familiar?
Your contract income sorted. Your accounts, less so.
Most contractors are good at the work. The accounting side is another matter. Self assessment gets left until January. Corporation tax is a rough guess until it is not. IR35 is something you mean to look into. The books are technically somewhere, just not exactly current.
- Self assessment filed in a hurry, often with money set aside too late
- No clear picture of what this year’s tax bill is actually going to be
- Bookkeeping piling up because there is no system and no time
What sorted looks like for contractors
Your accounts are current, your tax position is visible months ahead of any deadline, and you are not the one keeping track of it. That is the straightforward version of what working with Edward Harris looks like.
- Self assessment filed early, with your bill known well before January
- Tax position reviewed throughout the year, no late estimates
- Bookkeeping handled monthly so year-end is not a scramble
- One fixed monthly fee covering compliance and year-round support

Why contractors choose us over anyone else
There are a lot of accountants. These are the reasons contractors stay once they switch.
Your Tax Bill Known in Advance
Rather than waiting for HMRC to prompt you, your tax position is reviewed throughout the year. You know what is coming and when, which means you can set money aside without guessing. Surprises are largely avoidable when the books are current.
Questions Answered the Day You Ask
Whether it is a query about an invoice, a new contract, or what IR35 means for a specific engagement, you get a reply the same day. No chasing, no waiting until next quarter’s review call.
One Fixed Fee, Nothing Unexpected
Every service is covered under a single monthly fee agreed upfront. There are no add-on charges for filing your self assessment or handling a routine HMRC query. You know exactly what you are paying, every month.
Up and running in four straightforward steps.
Most contractors are set up and their books current within a week or two of first getting in touch. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible.

Free initial conversation
We discuss your contracting arrangements, current setup, and what you actually need. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next and what it costs — no ambiguity, no sales pressure.
We take everything over
We handle the transfer from your previous accountant, sort out any catch-up bookkeeping, and set up cloud accounting software on your behalf. The parts you dislike most are handled from day one.
Back to your actual work
Your books are current, your tax deadlines are managed, and you have an accountant who replies when you message them. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“We have been working with Hasan for almost a year. He’s been very helpful providing us with knowledge as new business owners. It’s great we can WhatsApp for general queries, making communication more efficient.”
Things contractors usually ask us first
Do you understand IR35 and how it applies to my contracts?
IR35 is one of the more practically significant tax rules for contractors, and the answer is rarely obvious from a contract alone. We review working arrangements against the HMRC tests and give you a clear picture of where you stand. We do not pretend IR35 is simple — but we can explain it without making it more complicated than it needs to be.
What does contractor accounting cost and what is included?
Pricing is a fixed monthly fee agreed upfront based on your setup — whether you are a sole trader, operating through a limited company, or somewhere in between. Self assessment, year-end accounts, bookkeeping, and year-round support are included. We talk through exactly what is covered before anything is agreed, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
My books are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem?
It is not unusual. Most contractors who come to us arrive with bookkeeping that is behind, records in more than one place, or a previous accountant they could not reach. We handle the catch-up and the transfer — there may be a one-off cost to bring things current, which we will be upfront about. You will not be charged for the mess indefinitely.
Is there a long-term contract or minimum term?
No long-term contract. If after three months the arrangement is not working for you, you leave with your books in order and nothing owed beyond the months already covered. We find most contractors stay because it works, not because they feel locked in.
Can you help me decide whether to operate as a sole trader or through a limited company?
Yes, and it is worth getting right. The answer depends on your contract rates, IR35 exposure, dividend strategy, and how you want to draw income. We look at your specific numbers rather than giving a generic answer, because the tax difference between the two structures can be material.
How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?
With bookkeeping kept current month by month, your tax position is visible throughout the year — not just at January. We will flag your estimated liability with enough time to set money aside properly. The aim is that a tax deadline is an event you planned for, not a bill that arrives without warning.
