Accountants for Contractors
Your contracting finances, properly handled.
Most contractors know roughly what they earn. Far fewer know what their tax bill will be until it is too late to do anything about it. Edward Harris works with contractors to keep the numbers clean, the tax visible, and the compliance handled. Fixed monthly fee, ACCA-qualified, questions answered the day you ask them.
- Know your tax bill months before it is due
- Corporation tax and self assessment filed without the scramble
- Dividend strategy structured to keep more of what you earn
- IR35 position understood, not guessed at
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill will be?
Contracting gives you flexibility. It does not automatically give you financial visibility. A lot of contractors reach January with a rough idea of what they owe HMRC and a mild hope it is not as bad as they fear. That is not a plan. Between invoices, dividends, pension contributions, and allowable expenses, the numbers are manageable — but only if someone is actually managing them throughout the year.
- No clear picture of your tax bill until the deadline is close
- Unsure whether your limited company structure is actually working in your favour
- Bookkeeping left until year-end, then done in a rush with receipts missing
What sorted looks like
Your tax position is visible throughout the year, not revealed at the end of it. Your company structure is reviewed so your take-home is efficient. Your books are current, your filings are on time, and you are not the one chasing anything.
- Tax bill calculated and communicated well before the payment deadline
- Limited company dividend and salary strategy reviewed for your circumstances
- Books kept current throughout the year — no year-end scramble or missing receipts
- One fixed monthly fee covering compliance and proactive support year-round

Everything a contractor actually needs
From day-to-day bookkeeping through to tax planning and company secretarial, the service covers the full picture — not just the year-end filing.
Tax Planning and Self Assessment

What makes this different from most accountants
Most accountants file what you give them. Edward Harris monitors, flags, and advises throughout the year — not just at year-end.
Your tax bill visible all year
Contractors are rarely short of income. They are often short of visibility. Your tax position is tracked throughout the year so you know what is owed, what can be reduced, and what to set aside. No January guesswork.
Questions answered the day you ask
Between contracts, clients are sometimes unsure whether to invoice, what to pay themselves, or how to handle a new engagement. Those questions get answered the same day — by phone, email, or message. Not at the next scheduled review.
Plain English, no accounting jargon
Hasan describes himself as your friendly neighbourhood accountant for a reason. IR35, dividend allowances, CT600 — the concepts are explained in plain terms so you understand what is happening and why. You will not leave a conversation more confused than you arrived.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
The process is designed to be as low-effort as possible on your side. Most contractors are set up and handed over within a week or two.
Get in touch
Call 0161 706 1523, email info@edwardharris.co.uk, or use the contact form. We reply the same day. Initial conversations are free and without pressure — there is no obligation to proceed.
Free initial conversation
We discuss your contracting setup, current accountant if you have one, and what you actually need. You will leave the call knowing what is included, what it costs, and what happens next. No vague proposals.
We handle the transition
If you are switching, we contact your previous accountant for the professional clearance and handover. If your books need catching up, we will let you know the cost upfront. You do not need to manage the handover yourself.
On with your work
Your compliance is handled, your books are current, and your tax position is visible throughout the year. You invoice, we keep the numbers straight. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Excellent service! Hasan took over and sorted out my accounts with a swift and hassle free service. I would highly recommend for your accounting needs.”
Things contractors usually ask us
Do you understand how contracting works — limited company structure, dividends, IR35?
Yes. Contractors working through a limited company have specific considerations around salary and dividend balance, IR35 status, allowable expenses, and pension contributions. These are not edge cases we deal with occasionally — they are standard parts of how we support contractor clients. You will not need to explain how your engagement model works before getting a useful answer.
What does it cost, and what is actually included?
Pricing is fixed monthly and confirmed before you start — no hourly billing or surprise invoices. The fee covers bookkeeping, year-end accounts, corporation tax, self assessment, and company secretarial as standard. If your situation requires additional work such as VAT registration or catch-up bookkeeping, that is quoted separately and agreed upfront.
My books are behind — is that a problem?
It is a common starting point, not a dealbreaker. We will review what needs catching up and give you a clear cost for the work before any of it starts. Once everything is current, ongoing monthly work keeps it that way. Most contractors are surprised at how quickly things can be brought into order.
Am I tied into a contract?
No. There is no long-term commitment required. If the service is not working for you, you are free to leave. You will receive your records in full and there will be nothing outstanding. The aim is to be useful enough that leaving does not cross your mind — but that is earned, not enforced.
I work across multiple contracts in a year — is that straightforward to manage?
Multiple engagements in a year, gaps between contracts, and varying income months are all manageable within a clean bookkeeping setup. Your accounts will reflect the actual pattern of your work rather than a simplified average. Tax planning takes your likely annual income into account, including quieter periods.
How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is?
The aim is for you to know your corporation tax and self assessment liability well before the payment deadlines — typically months in advance rather than weeks. This is only possible if the books are kept current throughout the year, which is why proactive bookkeeping is part of the service rather than an optional add-on.
Less guessing what you owe HMRC. More clarity, all year.
