Sound familiar?
Doctors earn complex income. Most accountants do not.
NHS salary, locum sessions, private practice fees, and a pension scheme that quietly generates annual allowance charges — your financial picture is considerably more involved than a standard employed taxpayer. A generalist accountant will handle the forms. That is not quite the same as understanding them. The result is usually a self assessment completed at the last minute, an unexpected tax bill, and a growing sense that someone should probably be on top of this.
- Annual allowance charges on the NHS pension arriving with little warning
- Locum and private income added to NHS salary with no clear tax plan in place
- Uncertainty about which practice expenses are genuinely allowable and which are not
What sorted looks like for doctors
Your accounts handled by someone who already knows how medical income works — without needing a lengthy explanation. Proactive contact before deadlines, clear numbers throughout the year, and considerably less sitting in your inbox.
- NHS pension annual allowance position reviewed each year — charges identified early
- All income streams reconciled and your self assessment filed well before January
- Allowable expenses reviewed properly so you claim what you should and nothing you should not
- Fixed monthly fee — no surprise invoices, no hourly rate anxiety

Self Assessment and Tax Planning
All income sources — NHS, locum, private fees, investments — pulled together and filed accurately. Your tax bill is known well before January, not the week before. Annual allowance charges on the NHS pension are reviewed and planned for each year.

Why doctors choose us over a generalist practice
The difference between an accountant who files your return and one who understands how NHS income, locum work, and private practice actually combine.
No explaining how NHS pay works
Annual allowance charges, pension input period calculations, the interaction between NHS salary and locum income — you will not need to brief us from scratch. These are familiar territory, not occasional edge cases. That saves time and reduces the risk of something being handled incorrectly.
Tax bill known well before January
Self assessment filed early, not rushed in the last fortnight. Your liability is visible months before it falls due, which means time to plan rather than react. Unexpected bills are largely avoidable when the numbers are reviewed throughout the year.
Questions answered the day you ask
Same-day replies as standard — by phone, email, or the contact form. Doctors work odd hours and questions do not always arise at convenient times. You will not be waiting three days for a response to something that takes two minutes to answer.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible.

Free initial conversation
We discuss your income sources, current setup, and what you actually need sorted. You will leave with a clear picture of what is involved and a fixed monthly fee — no vague quotes, no hourly rates.
We handle the transition
If you have a previous accountant, we contact them and collect what we need. If your books are behind, we catch them up. You do not need to spend a weekend gathering paperwork before anything can start.
Finances handled, year-round
Your self assessment filed early, your tax position visible throughout the year, and a knowledgeable accountant available when something comes up. Considerably less to think about — which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Excellent service! Hasan took over and sorted out my accounts with a swift and hassle free service. I would highly recommend for your accounting needs.”
Things doctors usually ask us first
Do you understand how NHS pension annual allowance charges work for doctors?
Yes. The NHS pension annual allowance issue — where high-earning doctors trigger unexpected tax charges on pension growth — is something we review as part of the annual process, not something you need to flag as a special case. We look at pension input, threshold income, adjusted income, and whether a scheme pays election is appropriate. You will not be explaining the basics to us.
What does it cost and what is included?
Pricing is fixed monthly and agreed upfront — no hourly rates, no surprise invoices. The fee covers self assessment, bookkeeping, year-end accounts where applicable, and year-round support. We discuss your specific income sources at the initial conversation and provide a fixed quote before anything starts. The initial conversation itself is free.
My books are a year behind and my previous accountant has gone quiet. Can you take over?
This is a fairly common situation and not a reason to delay getting in touch. We contact your previous accountant directly to retrieve whatever records exist, assess what needs to be reconstructed, and give you a clear picture of the catch-up work involved before committing to anything. Most clients arrive with their finances in some state of disarray and leave considerably less worried about it.
Is there a minimum contract term or notice period?
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed beyond work completed. We would rather earn your continued business through the quality of the service than hold you to a contract. That said, very few clients leave — and the ones who do tend to say they wished they had come sooner.
I do locum work through a limited company. Does that change things?
Working through a personal service company as a locum doctor brings IR35 considerations, dividend versus salary decisions, and corporation tax filing into the picture. We handle all of this as part of the service. We will also make sure your company structure is still appropriate for your working pattern — something worth reviewing if your NHS commitments have changed.
How far in advance will I know what my self assessment tax bill is?
The aim is for you to know your liability at least two to three months before the January deadline — enough time to plan, not scramble. If your income is relatively predictable, we can give you an indicative figure earlier in the year. The goal is that January brings no surprises.
