Know where your money is going, before it goes.
Most Oldham business owners budget by instinct — checking the bank balance and hoping for the best. That works until it does not. Edward Harris provides straightforward budgeting and forecasting support on a fixed monthly fee, delivered by an ACCA-qualified accountant who replies the same day you ask.
- A clear budget that reflects how your business actually operates
- Your tax liability visible months before the payment deadline
- Cash flow mapped forward so shortfalls appear before they arrive
- Plain-English figures you can actually use to make decisions
Initial conversations are free and without pressure. If it is not the right fit after three months, you leave with clean, current numbers and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Running on gut feel instead of a real budget?
A lot of Oldham business owners manage their finances reactively — checking the bank when a decision needs making, estimating the tax bill, hoping the cash holds until the next invoice lands. That works until a VAT quarter, a tax payment, or a slow month arrives at the same time. Budgeting does not need to be complicated, but it does need to exist.
- ✕ No clear picture of what next month’s cash position will be
- ✕ Tax payments landing as a surprise rather than a planned expense
- ✕ Decisions made on bank balance rather than accurate forward figures
What a working budget looks like
A properly structured budget puts you in front of the numbers rather than behind them. You know what is coming in, what is going out, and what the business needs to set aside. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
- ✓ Monthly cash flow forecast updated so you can see what is ahead
- ✓ Tax liabilities built into the plan well before the payment date
- ✓ Forward figures in plain English so decisions are based on facts
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee — no hourly billing or end-of-year surprises

Budgeting support built around your business
Whether you need a straightforward annual budget or rolling monthly forecasts, the service is structured around what your business actually needs — not a one-size package.
Cash Flow Forecasting
Your income and outgoings mapped forward on a rolling basis, so you can see what the next one to three months look like before they arrive. Shortfalls become visible early enough to act on them, rather than after the fact.
Included in advisory plansAnnual Budget and Tax Planning
A structured budget that accounts for your expected revenue, costs, and — critically — your tax obligations. Your Corporation Tax or Self Assessment liability is built into the plan from the start, so the payment date is never a surprise.
Proactive year-round supportKPI Reporting and Performance Tracking
Monthly or quarterly reporting against your budget, so you know whether the business is tracking as expected and where to pay attention. Figures presented in plain English without the spreadsheet archaeology.
Management accounts add-onRated 5.0 across every Google review
Clients include new start-ups, established trades, and growing limited companies across Oldham and Greater Manchester — all with the same consistent experience.

WhatsApp Access for Day-to-Day Queries

Confidence in Financial Decisions Every Time
“Their attention to detail and commitment to accuracy gave me great confidence in my financial decisions. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable accountant”
What makes budgeting support worth paying for
Most accountants file what is required and move on. Edward Harris is set up differently — the work happens throughout the year, not just at year-end.
Numbers you can actually use
A budget handed over as a spreadsheet you cannot read is not much use to anyone. Every report is presented in plain English with a clear explanation of what it means for your business. If a figure needs acting on, you will know why before the call ends.
Proactive contact, not reactive filing
Rather than waiting until year-end to look at the numbers, Edward Harris monitors your position throughout the year. If the business is heading off track — or if a tax payment is approaching — you hear about it first, not after.
Questions answered the day you ask
Budgeting throws up questions at inconvenient times. Can I afford to take on another member of staff this quarter? What does this contract mean for my tax position? Those questions get answered the same day — by phone, email, or WhatsApp for ongoing clients.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are set up and working with a current budget within a couple of weeks. The process is designed to be as simple as possible on your end.
Get in touch
Call 0161 706 1523, email info@edwardharris.co.uk, or use the contact form and we reply the same day. No lengthy intake questionnaires — just a quick conversation to understand what you need.
Free initial conversation
A no-obligation call to discuss your business, how you currently manage your finances, and what a useful budget would look like for you. You leave the call with a clear picture of what is involved and what it costs — no pressure to proceed.
We build the framework
Using your existing figures — or starting from scratch if the books need catching up — we build a budget and forecast tailored to how your business actually operates. You review it, ask questions, and we adjust until it makes sense.
Know your numbers, year-round
From that point forward, you have a live picture of where the business stands. Tax obligations are visible months ahead, cash flow is mapped, and decisions are based on accurate figures rather than guesswork. Considerably less to worry about.
“Excellent service! Hasan took over and sorted out my accounts with a swift and hassle free service. I would highly recommend for your accounting needs.”
Things people usually ask before getting started
Do you build budgets for specific types of business, or is it a generic template?
The budget is built around how your business actually generates and spends money. A sole trader in the trades has a very different cash flow profile to an e-commerce seller or a landlord with a small property portfolio. Edward Harris works across all of these, so the starting point is your numbers and your circumstances — not a generic spreadsheet adapted to fit.
What does budgeting support cost, and what is included?
Budgeting and forecasting is available as part of an advisory package on a fixed monthly fee. The fee covers the initial budget build, monthly or quarterly updates depending on your plan, and access to Hasan for questions throughout the year. Pricing is discussed at the initial conversation once we understand the scope — there are no hourly rates and no surprise invoices.
My books are behind. Can you still put together a useful budget?
Yes — and this is a common starting point. If the bookkeeping needs catching up first, that can be handled as part of the engagement. A budget built on inaccurate or incomplete figures is not much use, so getting the books current is the first step. The catch-up cost is discussed upfront so there are no surprises.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. There is no minimum term or lock-in. If the arrangement is not working for you, you give notice and leave with your files, your figures, and everything in order. The intention is that the service is worth continuing — not that it has to be.
Can you integrate the budget with my cloud accounting software?
Edward Harris is certified in Xero, QuickBooks Online, and FreeAgent. Budget and forecast figures can be set up directly within your cloud accounting platform, so your actual performance is tracked against the plan automatically. If you are not yet using cloud software, setting that up can be included as part of onboarding.
How far ahead can a cash flow forecast reasonably predict?
Most small businesses find a rolling 90-day forecast genuinely useful and sufficiently accurate. Forecasting further than six months is possible but the reliability diminishes quickly unless the revenue is contracted or highly predictable. The approach is calibrated to what will actually be useful for your business rather than producing figures that look thorough but are not.
