Self Assessment Tax Return Manchester

Self Assessment Tax Return Manchester

Your self assessment return, filed and done.

Most sole traders and directors leave their self assessment until January, then spend three weeks gathering receipts and hoping the numbers are right. Hasan Mahmood is ACCA-qualified, covers Manchester and Greater Manchester, charges a fixed fee, and replies the same day you get in touch.

  • Know your tax bill months before the January deadline
  • Allowances and expenses reviewed so nothing is missed
  • Filed directly with HMRC — no chasing, no guesswork
  • Plain-English summary of what you owe and why

No long-term contract required. If it is not working, you leave with your paperwork in order and nothing outstanding.

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill is this year?

Self assessment is one of those things that feels manageable right up until it is not. Receipts in a drawer, income from multiple sources, a deadline that arrives faster than expected. Many people in Manchester file late, pay penalties they did not need to pay, or submit figures they are not entirely confident in. None of that is unavoidable.

  • Tax return left until January, then filed in a rush
  • Expenses and allowances claimed by guesswork, not by knowledge
  • No idea what you owe until HMRC tells you

What a filed return looks like

Your return is prepared with your income reviewed, your allowable expenses checked, and your liability calculated in advance. You know the number before HMRC does.

  • Return prepared early — your bill confirmed well before January
  • Expenses and allowances reviewed properly, not estimated
  • Tax liability calculated and explained before filing
  • Fixed fee agreed upfront — no surprises on the invoice either

What you get

What the self assessment service covers

One fixed fee covers the preparation, review and filing of your return, with a plain-English summary of your liability included as standard.

01

Your Tax Return, Prepared Properly

Income from employment, self-employment, property, dividends or other sources is collated and reviewed. Allowable expenses are checked against HMRC guidance so nothing claimable is left out. The return is filed directly with HMRC once you have approved the figures.

Included as standard
02

Your Tax Bill, Known in Advance

Once the return is prepared, you receive a clear summary of what you owe and when payment is due. Payments on account are explained so January and July do not arrive as a surprise. There is no waiting for a letter from HMRC to find out where you stand.

No January surprises
03

Year-Round Support if Needed

If your situation changes during the year — a new income stream, a property sale, a change in employment — you can ask without it becoming a separate project. Questions get answered the day you ask them. For clients who want ongoing support, bookkeeping and tax planning can be added to a fixed monthly arrangement.

Why Edward Harris

What makes the difference for self assessment clients

Most accountants will file your return. Fewer will review it properly, explain the result, and flag anything worth planning for next year.

📋

Your Bill Before HMRC Tells You

Your liability is calculated and shared with you before the return is submitted. You know the number, understand how it was reached, and have time to plan for payment. Which is, frankly, the way it should work.

💬

Questions Answered the Same Day

If you have a question about an expense, a new income source, or a letter from HMRC, it gets answered the day you ask. No waiting days for a callback. Clients reach Hasan directly by phone, email or message.

🔍

Expenses Reviewed, Not Assumed

Allowable expenses vary depending on whether you are a sole trader, landlord, contractor or director. Each category is reviewed against what HMRC actually allows. Overclaiming is as much a problem as underclaiming — both are avoided.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

The process is designed to be light on your time. Most clients spend under an hour on their side of things.

1

Get in touch at no cost

Call 0161 706 1523, email info@edwardharris.co.uk, or use the contact form. We reply the same day. The initial conversation is free and without any pressure to proceed.

2

We discuss your return

A short conversation covers your income sources, any expenses you are unsure about, and whether there is anything worth flagging before we start. No jargon. No assumptions about what you already know.

3

Send us your information

We tell you exactly what we need and how to send it. P60s, bank statements, invoices, property income records — we handle the organisation from there. You do not need to format or calculate anything.

4

Return filed, liability confirmed

You receive a plain-English summary of your tax position and approve the return before it is filed with HMRC. Your deadlines are tracked from that point forward. Considerably less to think about than this time last year.

Questions

Things people usually ask before getting started

I have income from multiple sources — employment, rental income and some freelance work. Can you handle a return that covers all of that?+

Yes. Returns covering mixed income are straightforward to handle once the sources are identified. Employment income, self-employment profit, rental income, dividends and capital gains each have their own treatment under HMRC rules. You do not need to pre-sort or categorise anything — bring what you have and we will work through it.

What does it cost and what is included?+

Pricing is fixed and agreed before any work begins, so there are no surprises. The fee covers preparation, review, a plain-English liability summary, and direct filing with HMRC. If your situation is more complex — multiple income sources, capital gains, or prior-year amendments — that is discussed upfront and reflected in the quote. Contact us for a specific figure based on your circumstances.

My records are in a poor state and I may have missed a previous year. Can you still help?+

Yes, and this is not unusual. We start from wherever your records are. If prior-year returns need amending or catching up, that can be handled separately. Any catch-up work is quoted before it starts, so you know what is involved. Arriving with books in some state of disarray is not a problem — it is simply where we begin.

Is there a minimum contract or am I locked in?+

No long-term contract is required. Self assessment can be handled as a one-off each year or as part of an ongoing arrangement — that is your choice. If you decide to move to another accountant, we will provide your records and any documentation HMRC would need. Nothing is withheld.

I missed last year’s deadline and received a penalty notice from HMRC. Can you help me respond?+

Yes. Late filing penalties can sometimes be appealed where there is a reasonable excuse, and HMRC has a process for this. We can review your situation, prepare the outstanding return, and advise on whether an appeal is worth submitting. Getting the return filed is the first step regardless.

Is there anything I can do now to reduce my tax bill for the current year?+

Potentially, yes. Pension contributions, certain allowable expenses and the timing of income can all affect your liability. The most useful planning happens during the tax year, not after it ends. If you come on board before April, we can review your position with enough time to act on it.
